MEET coach braxton

For the past twelve years, Braxton has been dedicated to practicing martial arts. This journey began when Braxton and his wife sought an engaging activity for their first foster son and discovered a local gym.

The enthusiasm for martial arts quickly extended beyond their foster son to Braxton himself. Over the subsequent five years, Braxton advanced to a black belt in American Kickboxing and Karate under Professor Rick Goss. During this period, Braxton also earned a two-stripe purple belt in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu before the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a change in gyms.

Subsequently, Braxton began training under Roger Myers, a black belt under Chris Brennan (Westside Strangler), and attained his brown belt in September 2022. Braxton also served as the striking coach for two years at RM Elite Jiu-Jitsu.

In addition to his martial arts achievements, Braxton is a firefighter with the McKinney Fire Department, a role he has held since January 2013. His prior work experience includes five years with the Flower Mound Fire Department and one year with the Van Alstyne Fire Department.

The skills and confidence gained through martial arts have significantly impacted Braxton’s daily life, and he is passionate about sharing these benefits with others.

His younger children are actively learning martial arts, and he observes their progress with each class. Braxton is the father of four children, including a 24-year-old son, a 10-year-old daughter, an 8-year-old daughter, and a 6-year-old son.

He has been supported in all his endeavors by his wife of 14 years, whose assistance has been invaluable. Recently, Braxton completed a bachelor’s degree in Ministerial Leadership with South Eastern University
